The family has to take charge of the following expenses:

Monthly expenses:

  • Pocket money equivalent to 1 fifth of the minimum social wage

  • Registration of the young au pair with the social security

  • Housing of the “au pair” young person in a single room;
  • Food of the “au pair” young person.

Capital expenses:

  • insurance “civil liability” ;
  • language lessons

Where necessary:

  • expenses of an early repatriation of the “au pair” young person due to illness, accident, withdrawal of the approval or of the “au pair” young person’s authorisation.
The host family can take charge of additional cost (for example: public transport, residence permit, travel expenses), but it is not required. It's strongly recommended to write those arrangements in the placement agreement.
